Pope Leo XIV left Equatorial Guinea on Thursday. This departure marks the end of his eleven-day tour of Africa.
During his first trip to the continent, the Pope addressed various topics at different gatherings: resource exploitation, respect for human rights, corruption, peace, and social justice. Leo XIV frequently denounced authoritarian tendencies before political leaders while calling for a moral awakening.
Algeria, Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea are the countries visited by the church leader during this trip. Covering more than 17,700 kilometers in 18 flights, including three on Wednesday alone, which saw him crisscross Equatorial Guinea from the west coast to the far eastern border with Gabon, and then return.
