Indonesia has become a pioneer in ASEAN in enforcing restrictions on children's access to social media, thereby providing a safe digital space for them.
Indonesia's move also appears to be a trigger for other ASEAN countries to prepare similar regulations to maintain the quality of their younger generations.
"In ASEAN, yes. Indonesia was the first to implement it effectively. Malaysia has discussed a similar initiative and is preparing its regulations, but they are not yet in effect. Other ASEAN countries are still in the discussion stage," information technology expert Ismail Fahmi.
