Iran reels after the B1 bridge strike; Trump threatens further attacks

The attack plunged residents, rescue workers, and the victims' families into a state of shock, fear, and trauma, even as threats of further strikes and escalation persist. Hospitals and emergency services in Tehran and along the Tehran-Karaj corridor have been overwhelmed by a sudden influx of wounded, placing additional strain on an already stretched healthcare system. Iranian officials indicated that the B1 Bridge, a major new structure near Tehran where no military activity has been reported, had just been opened or was about to be, and warned that the damage could disrupt traffic for months on one of the country's busiest commuter routes. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called the strike “a direct attack on civilian infrastructure,” while US President Donald Trump released video footage of the collapsed bridge and warned that “more will follow” and could target other critical sites in Iran. In subsequent posts on his Truth Social platform, Trump claimed that US forces had “not even begun to destroy what’s left in Iran” and explicitly stated that “bridges next, then power plants!” were in their sights, foreshadowing a broader campaign against Iranian infrastructure.
