Women's tennis player Janice Tjen secured Indonesia's victory over New Zealand in the opening match of the Billie Jean King Cup Group I at the DLTA Stadium, New Delhi, India.
Indonesia is strengthened by the gold medal-winning team in the women's team at the 2025 SEA Games, namely Janice Tjen, Aldila Sutjiadi, Priska Nugroho, Anjali Junarto, and Meydiana Reinnamah, with Christopher Rungkat as captain.
The BJK Cup Group I matches featured three matches consisting of two singles and one doubles.
Before Janice played in the second match against New Zealand, Priska had already taken the lead thanks to her victory in the first match over Aishi Das 6-4, 6-1, according to the match results recorded on the official BJK Cup website.
Armed with her powerful serve, which included two aces, Priska scored 69 percent of her first-serve points. After struggling in the first set, the 22-year-old bounced back in the second.
She won three straight games before Das tried to catch up by taking one game. Priska then took control of the fifth, sixth, and seventh games to finish the match.
