Technology company Meta has adjusted the user age requirements for its Facebook, Instagram, and Threads services in Indonesia following the implementation of new regulations regarding youth protection in the digital space.
Based on the official Meta page accessed this policy is a response to Indonesian government regulations, namely Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 concerning Governance of Electronic System Implementation in Child Protection or PP Tunas.
This Tunas PP regulates safety for child and adolescent users on online platforms by limiting children's access to their social media platforms.
"We are committed to supporting safe and age-appropriate experiences and are complying with these new age requirements," Meta said in a statement.
