Middle East war: Tanzania adopts emergency measures

This is a consequence of the fuel crisis caused by the war in Iran. Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan will reduce her motorcades, which are among the longest on the continent.

Samia Suluhu Hassan announced on Wednesday that official and luxury cars would remain in the garage. Members of her delegation would have to make do with minibuses for their travels.

She didn't hold back, with convoys of at least 30 vehicles. That was before the disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Tanzania says it has fuel reserves that can last up to three months.

Several African countries have adopted austerity measures in response to the energy crisis.

In Madagascar, the authorities have declared a state of emergency. The same is true in Zambia, where the Energy Regulatory Authority announced at the end of March an increase in fuel prices at the pump.
