Hailfall causes significant damage to agricultural crops every year, so Russian scientists are working on developing a new way to combat this natural phenomenon.

The Russian news agency Novosti reported on the subject: "A patent document has appeared in the Russian patent database (Rospatent) for a patent being developed by a group of Russian scientists to combat hailstorms."

The document mentioned by the agency indicates that the new invention relates to "the development of devices to modify weather conditions, specifically anti-hail missiles used by meteorological agencies, which are used to actively influence cumulonimbus clouds in order to prevent hail and stimulate rainfall."

The developers pointed out that hitting a super-cold cloud with a missile of this type would evenly distribute the crystallization centers in the cloud where ice crystals form, which in turn fall as precipitation, thus preventing hail from falling from the clouds.

millimeters to several centimeters. Its falling sometimes causes significant damage to agricultural crops, and may also cause damage to cars, homes, and ground facilities.

Meteorologists had recently warned that weather conditions would worsen in Moscow and several other Russian cities, affected by a polar low, which could lead to sub-zero temperatures at night and snow and hail in some areas.
