The Tangerang Hawks extended their dominance over Hangtuah Jakarta, after the club coached by coach Tondi Raja Syailendra recorded an 89-86 victory over their guests in the IBL match held at the Tangerang Indoor Sports Center.
In the first meeting played at GOR Ciracas , Tangerang Hawks won 79-72 over Hangtuah.
Thanks to their victory in Week 14, the Tangerang Hawks consolidated their position in fourth place with 22 points. Meanwhile, Hangtuah currently sits in fifth place with 20 points.
Tangerang Hawks forward Jeantal Cylla was the game's top scorer, contributing 39 points. For Hangtuah, Nick Hornsby was the team's top scorer with 35 points and 17 rebounds.
The host city, the Tangerang Hawks, launched a flurry of attacks from the start. Josh Cunnigham's jump shot , followed by Cylla's basket, Darnell Cowart's two consecutive three-pointers, and Cylla's basket, gave them a 15-0 lead. Hangtuah finally scored on a Hornsby basket to make it 15-2.
The Tangerang Hawks continued their dominance for the remainder of the first quarter. Mohamed Arip hit a three-pointer, followed by points from Yesaya Saudale and Cowart to give the hosts a significant lead. Meanwhile, Hangtuah gradually closed the gap with points from Rakeem Christmas and Vander Lee, leaving them trailing by 17 points.
The home team led 35-18 to close the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Hangtuah further reduced the deficit against the hosts. They went from 19 points down, to 15 points down, to 10 points down, before Vander Li's layup brought their team to within four points at the end of the quarter.
