The Ministry of Communication and Digital officially announced preparations for the selection of 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz radio frequencies in 2026 to expand the availability of fast internet and improve the quality of cellular services to reach remote areas of Indonesia.
"The implementation of the radio frequency band selection, scheduled for 2026, aims to provide additional radio frequency spectrum that can be optimized by mobile cellular network providers," read an official statement from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology, quoted on Thursday.
To support the implementation of this selection, the Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid has stipulated the Decree of the Minister of Communication and Digital Number 175 of 2026 concerning the Selection of Users of the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz Radio Frequency Bands for the Purposes of Organizing Cellular Mobile Networks in 2026.
