In the town of Silwad, east of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank, Palestinian Abdul Halim Hammad (37 years old) was killed by Israeli occupation forces during a raid on the town, before the occupation forces seized his body, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, quoting the Ministry of Health.
In a related context, the occupation forces closed the Atara and Ain Sinya checkpoints north of Ramallah, preventing the movement of citizens and firing gas bombs, causing a severe traffic jam. They also closed the entrances to the towns of Silwad and Deir Jarir.
Several areas witnessed a campaign of arrests, as the occupation army arrested three brothers and the son of one of them in Kafr Qaddum, east of Qalqilya, in addition to arresting Palestinians in Tulkarm, and others in various areas, including citizens who were summoned for investigation.
In al-Arroub refugee camp north of Hebron, a young Palestinian man was shot and wounded, and another was arrested during clashes that erupted after Israeli forces raided the camp. A woman was also injured when Israeli forces assaulted her in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron. Meanwhile, a special forces unit abducted a young man from the town of Asira al-Shamaliya, north of Nablus.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners Club, the occupation army arrested about 140 Palestinians during Monday and Tuesday, as part of extensive raids that included physical assaults, field investigations and property damage.
In a related context, Israeli settlers escalated their attacks on Tuesday evening, attacking Palestinian homes in several areas, injuring a citizen and his son in the town of Al-Dhahiriya, and establishing a new settlement outpost south of Nablus.
Video footage documented an attack by a settler on a Palestinian boy in Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah, after the settler stole the boy's vehicle and attempted to run him over, an incident that sparked heightened tensions. Settlers also attacked a Palestinian home in the same village and raised an Israeli flag on its roof, according to a statement from the Al-Bader human rights organization.
The West Bank is witnessing an escalation in Israeli military incursions and settler attacks. The United Nations considers Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories illegal and calls for a halt to settlement expansion.
Around 750,000 Israeli settlers live in 141 settlements and 224 outposts in the occupied West Bank, including about 250,000 in East Jerusalem, which the United Nations considers part of the occupied Palestinian territories.
According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli occupation forces carried out 1,322 attacks during March, while settlers carried out 497 attacks.
Since October 2023, attacks by the Israeli occupation army and settlers in the West Bank have resulted in the martyrdom of at least 1,154 Palestinians, the injury of about 11,750, and the arrest of nearly 22,000, according to official Palestinian data.
