An official in the Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem said that 215 settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the morning and after noon prayers, while video clips showed Rabbi Eyal Tzinov performing religious rituals inside the mosque's courtyards.
For its part, the Jerusalem Governorate condemned the raid, stressing that it was "a blatant violation of the sanctity of the place and a provocation of the feelings of Muslims."
The governorate warned of the repercussions of these practices on the situation in the city and the region, and indicated that the incursions come as part of a "systematic escalation" against Islamic holy sites.
In the northern West Bank, the Israeli occupation army demolished a house and a commercial establishment in the town of Azbat Shufa, southeast of Tulkarm, on the pretext of building without a permit in an area classified as “C”, according to the Oslo II agreement. The forces also bulldozed the foundations of a residential building at the same location.
In this context, Israeli forces stormed the city of Nablus, raided homes and arrested Palestinians, with a military presence in a number of neighborhoods, which hampered the movement of citizens and students, according to eyewitnesses.
The Israeli occupation army also arrested at least 30 Palestinians in various areas of the West Bank and Jerusalem at dawn on Monday, including released prisoners and two children, according to the Prisoners' Media Office, which indicated that the operations included raids and destruction of the contents of homes.
In Ramallah, Palestinians mourned the death of Ali Hamadneh, 23, who was killed by settlers, amid chants condemning Israeli attacks and settlement policies.
These developments come amid a continued escalation of Israeli violations in the West Bank and Jerusalem, amid Palestinian warnings of their repercussions on stability in the region.
Since the start of the war on October 8, 2023, attacks by the occupation army and settlers in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, have resulted in the martyrdom of 1,133 Palestinians, the injury of about 11,700 others, in addition to the arrest of about 22,000.
Israel, through its army and settlers, has escalated its attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank since the start of the genocide in Gaza in October 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of more than 1,148 Palestinians, the injury of about 11,750, and the arrest of about 22,000.
