According to a report published Wednesday by Deloitte, global revenues from women's sport are expected to exceed $3 billion in 2026, compared to $2.4 billion in 2025. A spectacular increase, marked by a rise of 340% in four years, which testifies to an unprecedented dynamic.
This surge in revenue is driving investment across the entire women's sports ecosystem, creating a virtuous cycle: more resources, higher expectations, and increased professionalization. The report "Game Changers: Unlocking the Potential of Women's Sports" highlights three main revenue streams : commercial revenue (sponsorships, partnerships), which accounts for 45% of the total; broadcasting rights, experiencing strong growth thanks to increasing media interest; and matchday revenue (ticket sales, merchandising).
Football and basketball lead the way, North America is the leader
Women's soccer and basketball dominate the market, each generating 35% of global revenue. The emergence of new competitions, such as Unrivaled Basketball and the Canadian Northern Super League in soccer, is accelerating this trend. By 2025, North America accounted for 53% of global revenue, ahead of Europe (16%), a distribution expected to remain the same in 2026.
Record audiences and global enthusiasm
The 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup broke records with 82,000 spectators at the final in London, while the Women's Cricket World Cup confirmed the growing appeal of these sports. Since 2020, eight new women's leagues have emerged in North America, illustrating the sector's structural growth.
