Aprilia Racing rider Marco Bezzecchi widened his lead at the top of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship standings after a series of post-race penalties for the Catalunya MotoGP changed the final result of Sunday's race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Bezzecchi, who originally finished in sixth place, moved up two places after Joan Mir and Ai Ogura were given post-race penalties.
Mir received a 16-second penalty for a tire pressure violation, while Ogura received an additional three seconds after being deemed to have triggered the incident with Pedro Acosta.
The result gives Bezzecchi an additional 13 points and now leads the standings with a total of 142 points, 15 points ahead of his teammate and closest rival, Jorge Martin.
Martin failed to add any points after retiring in a race that was full of drama and was stopped twice due to red flags.
Meanwhile, victory in Catalunya went to Pertamina Enduro VR46 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio, who put in an impressive performance despite having previously fallen in a major incident involving Alex Marquez.
