The government is encouraging global Electronic System Providers (PSEs) with many users in Indonesia to establish representative offices in Indonesia to facilitate government oversight.
Nanci Laura Sitinjak, a senior policy analyst at the Directorate General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, said that overseeing global PSEs operating across borders is not easy.
"We realize that cross-border supervision is complex, complex, and not simple. Therefore, we hope that if they are in Indonesia, we can conduct supervision as we do for local companies," he said at the Bisnis Indonesia Forum, which he attended.
According to him, efforts to find solutions when operational problems arise would be easier if PSE Global had a representative office in Indonesia.
"If it's cross-border, there are jurisdictional restrictions, there are restrictions between countries, and that can make it difficult if we ask them to disclose electronic information," he said.
