Young star Lamine Yamal, the Barcelona winger, stole the show on Monday during his team's celebrations of winning the Spanish football league title in a parade that toured the streets of the Catalan city on an open-top bus.
During the procession, the “Blaugrana” icon was seen raising and waving the Palestinian flag, expressing support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, in a scene that received widespread interaction among the public and on social media.
At just 18 years old, Yamal has won 3 Spanish League titles since joining Barcelona's first team, the latest of which was on Sunday after his team's 2-0 victory over Real Madrid in the "Clasico".
No player in the club's history has ever achieved such a feat at such a young age, but the La Masia academy graduate, known for breaking records at an early age, has added another title to his tally.
During the parade, Lamine spoke and thanked the fans who filled the streets to celebrate the title, saying: “It’s incredible. They are always with us, on important days and on less important days. This is the club of our lives. We will always be here for them. We love them.”
Lamine also stressed the importance of appreciating every title the team wins, adding: “We have to give every title its true value, because winning is not easy. We have been through very difficult years, but now we are enjoying what we are experiencing. Today may be an ordinary workday in Barcelona, yet you will always find the fans here to support us.”
The young player did not hide his biggest dream when he spoke about his desire to celebrate a Champions League title in the future, confidently stating: “A Champions League celebration parade? It will definitely happen.”
