Local digital innovation is everywhere. This is the Morocco Gaming Expo, a must-attend event for companies looking to showcase their latest offerings in the sector.
Thousands of visitors are expected at this event and many of them have already started to try out some of the games on display.
More than 100 companies from Morocco and other countries, including France, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Spain, Turkey and India, are participating.
The Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, was joined by Huawei CEO Jason Chen at the opening of the event. The two men signed a cooperation agreement to the applause of the participants.
"Projections estimate that the industry will reach more than $500 billion by 2033. Of course, the goal is not only to generate revenue, but also to give our young people, and even the not-so-young, the means to develop their own startups and small businesses in this sector," explains Mehdi Bensaid.
"Artificial intelligence (AI) brings many positive advances, but it also raises concerns. Several professions are likely to disappear as AI continues to evolve," he adds.
A company called Kudo Education is present to showcase its game, Mathpunk Chronicles, which aims to teach mathematics interactively through puzzles.
"Nowadays, the current generation uses a lot of technology, and it will be the same in the future. So this game is linked to technology in a positive way, and we hope to improve it, and we also hope that this game will help future generations," says Fatima Zahra Bouiguaderne, a creator of Kudo Education.
Universities are also present, such as the pavilion of school 1337 and the pavilions of participating universities, including the Virtual Reality Club of the Faculty of Sciences of Rabat.
"Morocco's recent progress in the field of video game development has encouraged Mohammed V University in Rabat, particularly the Faculty of Sciences, to launch academic programs in virtual reality," explains Fadoua Bezzazi, president of the club.
"A club specializing in video games has also been created, which helps students apply their professional skills in this field and prepares them for the job market," she adds.
DPM Group, a company specializing in gaming accessories, has a well-located stand.
The company's president, Abdelkrim Mezouzi, believes it is essential that the government collaborate with startups to develop digital game content and support new projects.
The second edition of Morocco Gaming Expo 2025 will be held in Rabat from July 2nd to 6th, 2025.
The event aims to support the gaming industry in Morocco and the region, encouraging innovation and collaboration between local and international developers and investors.
