But nutrition experts warn: the real danger lies in sauces, which not only add calories but also disrupt the body's satiety system. The fats and sugars in common sauces overwhelm the body's satiety receptors.

She says: "The brain does not receive the stop signal, which allows a person to eat two or three times their usual portion. Ready-made sauces are particularly dangerous because producers use cheap vegetable oils and stabilizers in the production of mayonnaise, for example, and ketchup often contains the same amount of sugar as candy."

She adds: “From a French point of view, anything can be eaten with sauce, even if the dish is spoiled. But these days, people eat more with sauce, not because they are hungry. For your information, a vegetable salad (cucumber and tomato) contains about 50 calories, and when you add a spoonful of mayonnaise, it will rise to 230 calories. Even lemon juice and oil add 180 calories to it.”

The expert confirms that mayonnaise contains the highest amount of calories among all sauces, followed by ketchup.

She says: "Experts advise not to eat more than one tablespoon of mayonnaise, and not to eat more than two tablespoons of ketchup per day, because 100 grams of it contains 12 grams of sugar, while the recommended daily amount for adults is only 30 grams."
