The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia who is also the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle Megawati Soekarnoputri received a visit from the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Abdalfatah AK Alsattari at her residence in Menteng.
On that occasion, Ambassador Alsattari expressed his gratitude for Megawati's support and consistent stance towards Palestine in fighting against the Zionist Israelis.
He said that until now Palestine is still struggling and suffering from the treatment of the Zionist Israelis.
"Tens of thousands of buildings and homes have been destroyed, so many lives have been lost, and people are suffering, mostly women and children. What's even more sad is that among the victims are 200 journalists who have lost their lives. Israel is destroying the hopes of the Palestinian people," Alsattari said in a written statement.
The Palestinian ambassador added that Israel's motive for attacking Palestine is Hamas. Yet, hospitals, schools, and churches are not Hamas-owned. The approximately 200 journalists who lost their lives were also not Hamas-owned.
For this reason, Alsattari appreciates and is grateful for Megawati's consistent struggle and stance in voicing Palestinian independence.
In response to everything the Palestinian Ambassador said, Megawati was so moved that she sobbed, recalling the long struggle of the Indonesian people under oppression. She was also deeply moved by the suffering of the Palestinian people.
