PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk together with PT Telkom Satelit Indonesia inaugurated the Community Gateway at the Wamena Medium Earth Station, Jayawijaya Regency, Papua as the main backbone of digital connectivity in the Papua Mountains region.
"Connectivity is a key prerequisite for progress. This is where the Wamena Community Gateway plays a crucial role, transforming geographical challenges into strategic opportunities, transforming the region to be ready for growth and ready to participate in the national digital economy," said Indonesian Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Angga Raka Prabowo in an official Telkom statement on Monday.
The construction of the Wamena Community Gateway is part of a national priority program to expand inclusive digital infrastructure to Indonesia's easternmost regions. The infrastructure was inaugurated by Angga Raka Prabowo, along with Telkom President Director Dian Siswarini and Acting Telkomsat CEO Rizal Ahmad Fauzi.
The Wamena Community Gateway is a satellite gateway infrastructure that serves as the primary distribution point for connectivity in the Papua Highlands. The infrastructure was built to address the limitations of terrestrial networks while also improving the capacity and quality of communications services in the region.
