The government is stepping up efforts to crack down on digital crimes, including gambling, fraud, and crimes targeting vulnerable groups such as children and women.
"Online gambling , scams , and various crimes targeting children and vulnerable groups must be dealt with more stringently. This year, next year, and beyond. There will be no tolerance," said Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid, as quoted in a ministry press release confirmed on Friday.
After attending the 2026 National Police Criminal Investigation Technical Working Meeting at National Police Headquarters he stated that inter-agency collaboration is the main key in efforts to hunt down digital criminals.
"Crimes now often utilize digital methods and advanced technology. Therefore, we must massively strengthen digital services, both in terms of reporting and tracing," he said.
