The House of Representatives held a meeting with the Sumatra Disaster Task Force to discuss the current situation

 



 The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) held a meeting of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Natural Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra, to discuss the current situation and development progress.

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, chaired the meeting, which was also attended by a number of relevant ministers and the police, to discuss the next steps in post-disaster reconstruction in Sumatra.

"To make the most of our time, allow me to open today's coordination meeting," Dasco said at the parliamentary complex.

In opening the meeting, he also welcomed a number of parties present, starting from the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno.

Then the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency  Suharyanto, the Commander of the Mobile Brigade Corps of the Indonesian National Police, the Head of BP BUMN, and the heads of related institutions and BUMNs.

"The coordination meeting will discuss the current situation related to the post-disaster situation in Sumatra, as well as rehabilitation and reconstruction plans," he said.

Previously, the Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force  had completed the construction of 357 permanent housing units  for survivors of hydrometeorological disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

According to a statement from the PRR Task Force on Tuesday (May 12), this figure was obtained based on Task Force data as of May 11, 2026. This number is an increase compared to the 248 units recorded on May 8, 2026. This means that in the last three days, an additional 109 units of temporary housing have been completed, an increase of approximately 43.9 percent.

Overall, the need for temporary housing in the three provinces reaches 39,335 units, with 996 units still under construction. Aceh has the greatest need, with 28,910 units, followed by North Sumatra with 7,601 units, and West Sumatra with 2,824 units.
