The Constitutional Court (MK) heard statements from the Indonesian Lecturers Association (ADI) in a judicial review hearing of Law Number 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers regarding the appropriateness of lecturers' salaries.
The hearing, held at Building I of the Constitutional Court, was chaired by Chief Justice Suhartoyo and attended by eight other constitutional judges.
ADI Chairman Muhamed Ali Barawe said the lawsuit was not only related to lecturers' salaries, but also concerned the constitutional mandate regarding social justice and the future of Indonesian higher education.
"This is an issue of social justice and the dignity of lecturers as an important part of the development of Indonesian higher education towards 2045," said Muhamed.
In addition to ADI, the Constitutional Court also heard statements from related parties from Melbourne Bergerak, the Lecturers and Employees Union of Proklamasi 45 Yogyakarta University, and the Indonesian Progressive Educators Association.
