The MPR invites youth to oversee development on National Awakening Day

Deputy Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono  invited young people, especially students, to participate in overseeing national development on the momentum of National Awakening Day, which is commemorated.

Ibas, in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, encouraged the younger generation to actively monitor the government through constructive criticism, maintain unity, fight for justice, and ensure that every policy leads to the welfare of the people.

"National Awakening Day is not just about upholding the nation's philosophy, but also about understanding the meaning of education and participating in overseeing development to ensure it continues to prioritize national unity, justice, and prosperity," he said.

Ibas stated that the ultimate goal of national development is to create public welfare. Therefore, development must be able to provide a more intelligent, educated life and strengthen Indonesia's position as a developed and sovereign nation.

According to him, the quality of human resources is the key to realizing these ideals. He emphasized that true education not only develops intellectual intelligence but also moral and personality maturity.

"You must be your own moral compass. True education is one that shapes people not only intellectually intelligent but also morally and behaviorally mature," he said.

In addition to overseeing development, he also encouraged the younger generation to contribute solutions to the nation's various problems. He urged students to become active drivers and disseminators of information within the community.

"This country is too vast to be managed by one group, we can only progress if we work together," said Ibas.

In commemoration of National Awakening Day 2026, Ibas was the keynote speaker at a national seminar entitled "Learn Now, Act Tomorrow, Carve a Great Future: The Golden Generation Builds the Nation."

The seminar was attended by hundreds of students from various universities, including the Muhammadiyah Institute of Islamic Studies (Isimu) Pacitan, the University of Indonesia, the Defense University, the State Islamic University , and the State University.
