The Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Alexander Sabar, outlined three roles of parents in supporting child protection in the digital space, in accordance with Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 concerning Governance of Electronic System Implementation in Child Protection.
"First, parents build digital literacy together with their children. Learning together, so there's no need to worry or be afraid if parents are just learning," Alex said at a digital literacy improvement event held by the electronic system organizer Meta.
The Ministry of Communication and Digital has provided the tunasdigital.id website to make it easier for parents to improve literacy and protect their children in the digital space.
Parents can use the website to learn how to guide their children in navigating the digital space responsibly.
Besides improving digital literacy, according to Alex, parents need to build open and trusting communication with their children.
"Creating open communication and trust can make children feel safe talking about things that put them at risk in the digital space," he said.
Proper support from parents can also make children more confident and less easily provoked by other digital space users.
