A total of 78 swimmers from 18 countries participated in the 2026 Asian Open Water Swimming Championship in Jimbaran, Badung Regency, Bali.
"They were generally captivated by the beauty of Jimbaran Beach and some of them started practicing," said Harlin Erlianto Rahardjo, the Daily Chair of the Indonesian Aquatics Association, in Denpasar, Bali.
The number of participating countries increased from the initial 17 to 18 after Bahrain sent one athlete and two officials.
With 49 officials, the total number of participants in this tournament is 127 people.
Indonesia sent four male athletes and two female athletes to the championship which took place on June 13-15, 2026 at Jimbaran Bay.
They underwent warm-up sessions, training and trials on June 11-12 to ensure they were ready to compete in open water.
