Alphonso Davies has been included in the Canadian national team squad for their second Group B match of the 2026 World Cup against Qatar at BC Place in Vancouver, Canada, on Friday, Western Indonesian Time.
However, the Bayern Munich left-back has not been fielded as a starter and will start the match from the bench.
Davies previously missed Canada's opening match due to fitness issues. Coach Jesse Marsch hinted that the 25-year-old could get some playing time as a substitute after recovering from an injury-interrupted season.
Despite Davies' absence from the starting lineup, Canada still fielded its best team in pursuit of its first win of the tournament.
Marsch made two changes from the team that drew against Bosnia & Herzegovina, bringing Ali Ahmed and Cyle Larin into the starting eleven.
Larin, who scored in the opening match, will once again partner Jonathan David up front, while captain Stephen Eustaquio remains the driving force in midfield.
