Indonesian badminton legend Candra Wijaya is once again holding a special competition for doubles players through the 14th Yonex-Sunrise Doubles Special Championships 2026 as part of an effort to maintain Indonesia's strong tradition in the sector.
The doubles tournament will be held at the Daihatsu Yonex-Sunrise Candra Wijaya International Badminton Center Hall in Jelupang, Serpong, South Tangerang, Banten, from June 10-13 and will be attended by around 500 pairs.
"I'm holding this event with the goal of further popularizing doubles. It's also to support the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) by providing coaching. Through this championship, I'm providing an opportunity for talented players in the doubles group to hone and improve their skills, as well as gain experience," said Candra in an official statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
Entering its 14th year, the championship has become one of the tournaments that consistently provides opportunities for doubles specialist players, from age groups to the adult category.
A total of 11 events will be contested in this year's edition, including men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles for the U15, U17, and U19 age groups, as well as adult men's doubles and mixed doubles events.
The tournament will feature players not only from various regions in Indonesia but also from several countries, including the United States, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Australia. The presence of international players is expected to enhance the quality of the competition and provide a more diverse competitive experience for young Indonesian players.
