Real Madrid president Florentino Perez spoke about the upcoming elections and strongly criticized the actions of his rival Enrique Riquelme.
Real Madrid elections are currently underway after Florentino Perez decided to hold urgent presidential elections following the negative results that the team experienced last season.
Florentino Perez said during his campaign press conference, as reported by the Spanish newspaper Marca: "Vote for us because our future is in your hands. Our shirt cannot be used to harm our values. The club members cannot allow that."
He added: "Someone (referring to Riquelme and the Haaland incident) used our shirt to embarrass and deceive us on a television program, and minutes later the player's father, his agent, and Manchester City denied everything."
He added: "What others are doing makes me feel very embarrassed. Yesterday, a coach's name was announced for negotiations, but this coach responded a few minutes later saying that we shouldn't even try. Didn't we have a coach who was ready to join Real Madrid at the beginning of the season?"
He continued: "The Real Madrid shirt cannot be tarnished with lies. The Real Madrid shirt does not deserve to be insulted by someone aspiring to the presidency. Let us continue to win, and I am the president of the club. We have won 66 titles together, including 7 Champions League titles. No one has won more than that."
He stressed: "As you know, I never lie, and what I promise, I deliver. I have earned my credibility this way. I don't show you folded shirts so that the presenter can present his program. I bring the best players in the world to Real Madrid and I will continue to do so."
He added: "I came here when we only had 8 Champions League titles, now we have 15. We have radically changed this club. We have the best stadium in the world and the other candidate continues to disrespect it. I am here to defend Real Madrid."
He affirmed: "We will never stop watching magical nights at the Bernabeu and we will always defend Real Madrid. We will continue to build the most beautiful era in our 124-year history."
