The Iranian national football team left a touching message in the locker room in Los Angeles, expressing their gratitude to the city hosting the 2026 World Cup matches, following their goalless draw against Belgium.
Los Angeles hosted the first two matches of the Iranian national team, and they will continue their journey in the tournament by facing the Egyptian national team in Seattle in the next round of the group stage.
The Iranian national team is participating in the tournament under exceptional circumstances, as it has taken up residence in the Mexican city of Tijuana during the tournament due to travel restrictions, which forced it to travel to the United States to play its matches, which has sparked some criticism within the technical staff.
The handwritten letter, published by the Iranian Football Federation, stated that "from ancient Persia to modern Iran, the Iranian spirit remains alive and steadfast," emphasizing the team's pride in its identity and history.
The message added: "We came to Los Angeles with pride, we competed with honor, and we leave with dignity. Thank you, Los Angeles, for your hospitality."
The Iranian national team also thanked its fans, calling at the end of its message for the spread of the values of "peace, respect and friendship" among all peoples.
The Iranian national team will meet its Egyptian counterpart in a tough match as part of the third and final round of Group G in the 2026 World Cup, in a match scheduled to take place next Saturday at the Seattle stadium in the United States, at 6:00 AM Cairo and Mecca time.
