Indonesian female chess player Chelsie Monica recorded a proud achievement by defeating world number one chess player Magnus Carlsen in a simultaneous exhibition match held in Hong Kong.
The victory was a special moment considering that Carlsen is considered one of the best players in the history of world chess.
The meeting between Chelsie and Carlsen took place during the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships.
The day before the main competition began, Carlsen faced 25 chess players from various countries in a simultaneous chess session using the rapid chess format.
Of the 25 opponents who challenged the Norwegian Grandmaster, only Chelsie managed to win.
The 30-year-old Indonesian chess player, who holds the title of Women International Master (WIM), was able to make Carlsen surrender in a fierce duel.
Chelsie beat Carlsen using the Italian opening, one of the Indonesian female chess player's favorite openings.
Chelsie came to Hong Kong as part of the Indonesian squad at the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Team Championships.
