Khamenei calls on the Iranian people to achieve "national unity"

Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei addressed a message to his people stressing "national unity".

Khamenei said in a post on his official Telegram account on Sunday that “national unity is one of the most important elements of victory in the face of the Great Satan.”

He stressed the need for everyone, especially politicians, to avoid any political steps or disputes that could harm social cohesion.

Controversy has intensified in Iran regarding the ongoing negotiations with the United States , with media outlets circulating potential terms for a memorandum of understanding between the two sides.

On Saturday, Mahmoud Nabavian, a conservative member of the Iranian parliament, raised questions about some of the memorandum's clauses in a post on the American platform “X”, asking: “Does this text serve national interests?”

Nabavian noted that the memorandum of understanding includes provisions such as opening the Strait of Hormuz immediately and without restrictions free of charge, and reducing uranium enrichment, while there is ambiguity regarding lifting sanctions on Iran, releasing its frozen assets, and the possibility of it benefiting from a $300 billion financing fund.

On Saturday, a number of Iranians gathered in Ibn Sina Square in the center of the capital, Tehran, to protest against the negotiations with the United States, where participants chanted slogans against the Speaker of Parliament, the head of the negotiating team, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

On Friday, Araqchi said there was a possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding with the United States in the “digital sphere” within the next few days.
