Mauro Jeronimo officially becomes the new coach of Borneo FC

Mauro Jeronimo has officially become the new coach of BRI Super League club Borneo FC for the 2026/2027 season, replacing Fabio Lefundes.

Quoted from the official I.League website, Thursday, Jeronimo's arrival also marks a new era for Borneo FC, which is carrying out a team overhaul on a fairly large scale.

In its official Instagram post, Borneo FC explained that one of the reasons for appointing Jeronimo was his experience in Asian and ASEAN competitions.

"With experience coaching in Asian and ASEAN competitions, this Portuguese coach brings vision, character, and great ambition to help Pesut Etam continue to compete at the highest level," Borneo FC wrote in the post.

"A new journey begins. New challenges await. Let's unite, work harder, and pursue success for the glory of Samarinda!! MANYALA," the post continued.

Borneo FC also announced the latest coaching team line-up led by Jeronimo with a combination of new names and newcomers.

In the assistant coaching position there are three names, namely Sultan Samma, Eudald Rosell and Pedro Javier, while the goalkeeper coach is filled by Joao Gabriel, then Claudio Da Costa as physical trainer, while there are two analysts Chu Viet Hoang and Rosyid Aji.

Jeronimo and the coaching team face a tough challenge in the 2026/2027 season, as they must compete in four competitions: the BRI Super League, the AFC Challenge League, the ASEAN Champions Cup, and the League Cup.
