Raymond/Joaquin also failed to win the 2026 Indonesia Open

Indonesian men's doubles pair Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin failed to keep the host nation's hopes of winning the 2026 Indonesia Open alive after being defeated by Malaysian pair Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin in the final at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan.

Raymond/Joaquin had to be satisfied with being runners-up after losing 21-13, 18-21, 10-21 to the seventh seed.

The defeat was devastating because Raymond/Joaquin had been so close to the title. They dominated the first game and controlled the match from the start.

Raymond/Joaquin played fast, neat drives, and boldly took the initiative in attack. They took a commanding 17-8 lead before closing the first game with a score of 21-13.

The chance to become champions became more open in the second game when the young Indonesian pair led 12-7, and then 14-9.

However, this momentum slowly disappeared. Goh/Izzuddin increased the tempo, while Raymond/Joaquin made several unforced errors at important points.

A 14-9 lead turned into a 14-14 lead. After that, the pressure turned to the Indonesian pair. Raymond/Joaquin lost their composure and ultimately lost 18-21.
