National racer Rifat Sungkar has prepared a long-term development program for his son, El Mayka Rifat Sungkar, as part of the Sungkar family's regeneration efforts in the world of motorsport through a program titled "The Legend Continues".
Rifat said the racing world is now entering its third generation in his family. The tradition began with his parents, Helmy Sungkar and Ria Sungkar, then continued by himself and his younger brother, Rizal Sungkar, and is now being prepared for the next generation, including El Mayka.
"In keeping with the continuity in our family, racing has now entered its third generation. It started with Grandma Ria and my father, then with Rizal and me, and now it's down to our grandchildren, one of whom is Mayka," Rifat said at a press conference.
The rally driver, who has achieved numerous achievements at both the national and international levels, admitted that he had initially considered retiring from professional racing several years ago. However, El Mayka's demonstrated interest and talent led him to return to active competition.
According to Rifat, his decision to return to the track was not to pursue personal achievements, but rather as a direct learning tool for his son.
"Several years ago, I announced my retirement from professional racing. But it turned out this kid had talent and was interested in the automotive world, so I tried to get Mayka in the car. Not as a driver, but as a navigator or co-driver. The reason I ended up coming back was for Mayka," Rifat said.
