The Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology explains the contents of consultations with the US regarding the draft Presidential Regulation on AI

 




  The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) explained the points conveyed by US technology industry players in consultations regarding the draft Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on the Governance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Development in Indonesia.

The Director of Artificial Intelligence and New Technology Ecosystem (AIKITA) at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Technology, Aju Widyasari, said the consultation was conducted as part of the regulatory drafting process involving various stakeholders, including global technology providers.

"Yesterday, there was a formal submission from the US-ASEAN Business Council, the US Chamber, and US technology providers, raising several questions regarding the ethics of artificial intelligence," Aju said during a discussion session at the 2026 Indonesia AI Ethics Summit.
According to him, the majority of the input provided relates to the technical aspects of implementing AI ethics, which will be further implemented by various sectors.

During the consultation, the US company also requested clarification on the mechanisms for implementing AI ethics, the instruments used for oversight, and the standards used as a reference in developing regulations.
