  National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the series of pilgrimages to the graves of former presidents ahead of the 80th Bhayangkara Day is an effort by the National Police to absorb the nation's leadership values, as a guideline in carrying out their duties of serving the community.

During a pilgrimage to the tomb of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno, in Blitar City, East Java, on Saturday, Sigit said the tradition aims to explore the fighting spirit of previous leaders to strengthen the institution's commitment to maintaining the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

"This morning, we made a pilgrimage to the tomb of the late President Gus Dur and thank God, now we are making a pilgrimage to the tomb of the late President Soekarno, then after this we will continue to the tomb of President Soeharto and then we will close at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery," said Sigit in his statement received.

According to the Chief of Police, the values ​​inherited from the nation's leaders are important for the Police in carrying out the state's mandate and responding to the public's expectations.

"The series of activities we are carrying out this time is part of our tradition of absorbing and exploring the values ​​of our nation's leaders, which is of course very important, especially for the Indonesian National Police (Polri). We have a mandate to continue to uphold what has been passed down, the values ​​that our former presidents and former national leaders have imparted to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian National Police (Polri)," he said.

Sigit emphasized that these leadership values ​​need to be maintained and continued as the spirit of dedication of the Indonesian National Police in carrying out their functions of protecting, protecting, and serving the community.

"This is also a strength, something positive that we must continue to develop as a spirit for the Indonesian National Police (Polri), so that we can continue to carry out the mandate of the institution, the mandate of the community, the nation, and the state, to carry out all of our duties and responsibilities to the best of our ability," he said.

The pilgrimage to Bung Karno's tomb is part of a series of activities to welcome the 80th Bhayangkara Day which will be commemorated on July 1, 2026.
