West Java legislator says data validation is key to Maung School's success

West Java Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) member Tina Wiryawati assessed that validating and synchronizing student data from underprivileged families is an important factor in supporting the success of the Maung School Program, including in Kuningan Regency, West Java.

Tina in Kuningan, Tuesday, said that education programs targeting underprivileged communities require an accurate database so that the benefits can be received by eligible students.

According to him, accurate data will help the government implement programs more effectively while expanding access to education for vulnerable groups.

He said the focus on data quality aligns with the central government's efforts to improve education services and equalize learning opportunities.

"Data synchronization is crucial to support President Prabowo Subianto's directives, which place a significant emphasis on school revitalization and ensuring access to education for the poor," he said.

Tina said that the issue of recipient data is still a work that needs to be improved, especially in the process of determining recipient groups based on welfare levels.

Therefore, provincial and local governments need to continue to strengthen coordination in updating data on potential beneficiaries.

In addition to improving data, he believes that program socialization must be carried out from the start so that the public understands the mechanisms and objectives of the policies implemented by the government.

According to him, providing adequate information can increase community participation and support the smooth implementation of programs in the field.

He emphasized the importance of developing a comprehensive scheme and socialization so that the program is not implemented suddenly and does not cause confusion or disappointment among the community.

Tina is optimistic that the Maung School Program can provide broader benefits to students from underprivileged families if supported by valid data and planned implementation.

"We hope that various inputs from the community can be used as evaluation material to strengthen the implementation of the Maung School Program so that the goal of equal access to education can be optimally achieved," he said.

data states that the Maung School  is an educational program initiated by the West Java Provincial Government to transform secondary schools  into centers for developing high-achieving students, both academically and non-academically, as well as through special high IQ pathways.

Currently, there are 41 Maung Schools in West Java that have been officially designated by the West Java Provincial Government for the 2026/2027 academic year.

This number is divided into two levels of state educational units, namely 28 state senior high schools and 13 state vocational schools.

Maung Schools are distributed across various regencies and cities in West Java. Examples include SMAN 1 Bogor, SMAN 2 Cibinong, SMAN 1 Depok, SMAN 1 Bekasi, and SMKN 1 Cibinong in the Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi  areas.

Meanwhile, other areas such as SMAN 1 Purwakarta, SMAN 1 Subang, to SMAN 1 Parigi in Pangandaran.

The initial selection process  for these 41 schools has been completed and the results were announced on June 8, 2026, with a total capacity of 18,268 student quotas.
