Witkoff heads to Doha amid ambiguity surrounding US-Iranian negotiations, with conflicting denials and confirmations.

CNN reports that US envoy Steve Wittkopf is currently heading to the Qatari capital, Doha, at a time when US President Donald Trump has spoken of a new round of negotiations with Iran.

The network quoted US officials Wittkopf and Kushner confirming that Wittkopf was heading to Qatar, but it was unclear whether he would be traveling with Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, or not, given the ambiguity surrounding the arrangements for the visit.

Trump announced on Monday that Washington and Tehran would hold new talks on Tuesday in Doha, while a senior US official indicated that technical talks regarding the memorandum of understanding were proceeding "according to plan," despite recent tensions and an exchange of fire.

In contrast, Iran denied that any negotiating meetings with the United States were scheduled for the near future, stressing that it is currently focused on implementing the memorandum of understanding, rather than moving to negotiations on a final agreement.
