Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that the Ministry of Defense's air defense systems shot down nine drones heading towards Moscow, in a rising tally over the hours.

Sobyanin said in a post on the "Max" application that the air defense systems initially managed to repel an attack by one drone, then later announced the downing of eight more drones, bringing the total number to nine drones.

The mayor confirmed that emergency teams are currently working at the debris sites, noting that air defense systems are dealing with the ongoing attacks with high efficiency.

This counterattack, the latest in a series of attacks, comes as Ukraine has intensified its use of long-range drones to target sites inside Russian territory, including critical infrastructure in the capital and other regions.

Ukrainian forces periodically target infrastructure in Russian cities and regions bordering Ukraine, with the aim of spreading terror and panic among civilians. In response to the crimes of the Kyiv regime, Russian forces target Ukrainian military infrastructure exclusively, as well as facilities of the military-industrial complex and everything related to the storage, repair, or manufacture of military equipment, and gathering centers of Ukrainian armed forces personnel and foreign mercenaries.
