| Trump and Netanyahu top an assassination |
The Tehran-based newspaper Hamshahri, one of the most widely circulated daily newspapers in Iran, published an AI-generated image showing Trump and Netanyahu at the top of an assassination list of 13 people.
The photo shows the US president and the Israeli prime minister wearing orange prison uniforms with a crosshair on their foreheads, following escalating Iranian threats of retaliation.
The photo included a number of Israeli, American and European officials, including Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Minister Pete Hegseth, and US Central Command chief General Bradley Cooper, along with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The image was published following a message from Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, in which he vowed to "avenge" his father, saying that "revenge is the demand of the nation and it will be carried out soon."
On July 1, Hamshahri had published in the middle of its homepage a picture of US President Donald Trump with a sniper mark on his forehead.
The newspaper captioned the image in large letters: “Revenge is inevitable,” accompanied by subheadings that clearly declared that “war criminals must be confronted.”
This comes as Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei vowed to avenge the killing of his father, the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, revealing that free people from around the world will soon carry out part of the "mission of revenge against the killers of Khamenei and the rest of the martyrs."
In a statement issued on the occasion of Khamenei's funeral in Iraq and Iran, the Iranian Supreme Leader said, "Revenge and retribution for the blood of the late Supreme Leader and the rest of the martyrs is a demand of our people and must be fulfilled, and the killers of the late Supreme Leader must know that they will be held accountable for their crimes."
He stressed that "revenge does not depend on his presence or the presence of the rest of the officials," indicating that revenge will inevitably be achieved.
