French national team coach Didier Deschamps continued to make history at the World Cup after becoming the coach with the most wins in the tournament's history, following France's 3-0 victory over Sweden in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup.

Deschamps raised his tally to 17 victories in the World Cup finals, surpassing the previous record held by German coach Helmut Schön, who achieved 16 wins between 1966 and 1978.

Deschamps continues to cement his status as one of the greatest figures in the tournament's history, having previously led France to the 2018 World Cup title and reached the final of the 2022 edition, before continuing his successful run in the 2026 World Cup.

He is also one of only three people to have won the World Cup as both a player and a coach.

With this achievement, the French coach adds a new chapter to his exceptional career, at a time when the "Les Bleus" team continues to compete for a new world title.
