A new international federation lifts sanctions on Russian athletes

The International Federation of Functional Fitness (IFFF) has announced the lifting of sanctions imposed on Russian athletes, allowing them to participate again in the federation's international championships.

The International Federation of Functional Fitness (IFFF) has announced the lifting of sanctions imposed on Russian athletes, allowing them to participate again in the federation's international championships.

The International Federation of Functional Fitness explained that its decision includes allowing Russian athletes to participate in the "Masters" series competitions, in addition to the senior World Championships this season.

International Federation of Functional Fitness President Gretchen Kittelberger said that sport must remain neutral, noting that the decision was in line with the International Olympic Committee's position on lifting some restrictions on Russian sport.

She added: "We support the International Olympic Committee's decision to lift the sanctions on the Russian Olympic Committee, and therefore we will lift the restrictions imposed on Russian athletes in the International Federation of Functional Fitness International Championships."

This decision comes after the International Olympic Committee announced on July 7 that it was rescinding its previous recommendations to international federations and tournament organizers regarding restrictions on the participation of Russian athletes, along with the Russian Olympic Committee temporarily restoring its status.
