Indonesian men's singles player Alwi Farhan confirmed his ability to bounce back after ending his poor record against French representative Alex Lanier in the round of 16 of the 2026 Japan Open.
Alwi eliminated the seventh seed in a three-game match with a score of 9-21, 21-14, 21-16 in Tokyo, Japan, Thursday.
"I certainly don't want to repeat the mistakes I've made in the last few meetings. I always leave the court with my head down, but today I'm certain that whatever the result, I'll leave the court with my head held high. I have no regrets," Alwi said in an official PBSI statement after the match.
Alwi started the match unconvincingly. Several shots came out of bounds, causing the 2026 Australian Open champion to lose control and surrender the first game to Lanier.
