England fans praised Argentina captain Lionel Messi's performance as he beat them 2-1 in the 2026 World Cup semifinals at Atlanta Stadium in the United States.
"Messi played very well. He created a lot of chances and finally made an assist ," said Sambhav, an England supporter, after the match.
Sambhav's statement was supported by his teammate, Kyle. He admitted he was always amazed when he saw Messi in action on the pitch.
In the match against England, Lionel Messi was chosen as the best player because he made two assists for his team.
England actually took the lead through Anthony Gordon's goal (55'). However, Argentina fought back and equalized thanks to Enzo Fernandez's goal (85'), which was assisted by Messi.
Messi was again the key player behind Argentina's second goal, a header from Lautaro Martinez (90+2'). The 39-year-old delivered the cross that Martinez headed home.
"Messi is incredible. He doesn't run much, but he creates key moments," said another England fan, Shergul Arshad.
