Argentina national team captain Lionel Messi said the Albiceleste advanced to the 2026 World Cup final thanks to their hard work and quality throughout the match.
He also denied that his team received special treatment to be able to return to the final for the second consecutive year.
"It's incredible what we've achieved. We're back in the World Cup final. Some people might be sad about it, and they can say whatever they want. But this team has shown that results are the result of hard work," Messi told dsports, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
Argentina secured their place in the final after a 2-1 comeback victory over England in the 2026 World Cup semifinals at Atlanta Stadium in the United States.
Having fallen behind to Anthony Gordon's goal, the Albiceleste turned the game around with goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez. Messi was instrumental in the victory, providing two assists.
