FIFA has rejected the Belgian Football Association's lawsuit regarding the decision to suspend the suspension of United States striker Folarin Balogun.
FIFA had previously suspended Balogun's one-match ban, allowing the striker to play against Belgium in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
"To date, the RBFA has not received the basis for this decision. We have also not received a copy of the decision, an explanation stating that the player is eligible to play, or the referee's report, which we requested from the start of the process. This is a violation of FIFA regulations," the RBFA said in an official statement.
The RBFA added that it had notified the United States Soccer Federation (US Soccer) that it would challenge Balogun's eligibility if his name was included in the line-up submitted to the referee.
"The RBFA has notified the United States Soccer Federation that we will challenge the player's eligibility if he is listed on the roster. Accordingly, all further legal action remains open," the statement continued.
Previously, Belgium formally appealed against FIFA's decision to allow Balogun to play. The RBFA stated it had no choice but to challenge the player's eligibility for the match.
