This complaint should be filed where she lives or where the incident occurred. In such cases, a case is filed under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and action can also be taken under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (IT Act).
What to do if there is account related fraud?
The second type of cyber fraud occurs online, using UPI or credit cards. If someone is tampering with your bank account, demanding money, or making fraudulent transactions, you should first report it to 1930. Also, inform your bank so they can block your account. If your account is blocked, go to the railway station and inform the police.
In such crimes, it's also important for women to obtain a bank account statement. This can help identify which bank account the fraudster sent the money to.
What can you do to avoid cybercrime?
The best way to avoid cybercrime is to avoid clicking on any links. Furthermore, if a site isn't verified, don't upload your photos, videos, or personal information there. These days, social media is the era, and people share their photos and information. This is your freedom of expression, but you should maintain decorum and safety when posting anything on social media, as people can make you a soft target by viewing your information.
In addition to these things, you should always be vigilant about your bank account. Keep the important phone numbers of your bank manager and bank branch handy so you can contact them immediately if needed. Never share your personal information with anyone over the phone.
