Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service Rear Admiral Tunggul said that Indonesia's first aircraft carrier, the Giuseppe Garibaldi, will be crewed by Indonesian Navy and Italian Navy personnel when it sails to Indonesia.
"They will cross with a joint crew concept . The joint crew will consist of some Indonesian Navy personnel and some Italian Navy personnel," said Tunggul during a press conference at the Navy Headquarters, Cilangkap.
Tunggul said that this effort was made so that Indonesian Navy personnel could be assisted by Italian Navy personnel in adapting to manning an aircraft carrier.
He explained that the Indonesian Navy has now sent 100 personnel to undergo training at the shipyard that produces the Garibaldi, namely Fincantieri.
