The Toronto Raptors were forced to delay completing the transfer of Kawhi Leonard from the Los Angeles Clippers, after the NBA stated that the results of an investigation into alleged salary cap violations could affect the status of the transaction.
The NBA website stated on Friday that league officials were still investigating the Clippers, so the transfer process would have to wait until that process was complete.
"The NBA informed us that as a result of the ongoing investigation into the Clippers, we will bear the risk of any potential outcome of the investigation impacting Leonard. With that in mind, we will wait until the league's investigation is complete," the Toronto Raptors said in a statement.
Until now, there is no definite schedule for when the investigation will be completed.
The investigation is being conducted by an independent legal counsel appointed by the NBA, while the league has not provided further comment.
