The Golden State Warriors have reached a one-year contract agreement with center Charles Bassey for the 2026-2027 NBA season.
The NBA website stated Friday that the deal will add depth to the Warriors' squad in the paint area .
The 25-year-old returns to the Bay Area and will play his sixth NBA season with the team.
His presence is expected to strengthen the team's bigman rotation , following changes in squad composition during the player transfer market.
Bassey's presence is also the Warriors' response after center Quinten Post joined the Memphis Grizzlies through an offer sheet mechanism , so the team needed replacement power in the defense and rebounding sectors .
Bassey was previously known as a player who had the ability to defend in the paint area , grab rebounds, and protect the ring.
With his 2.08-meter height, he is expected to provide coach Steve Kerr with additional options when the Warriors need a defender under the basket.
